If you'd like to forward a domain that you have to another domain address or subdomain, the best way to do that would be to use a CNAME record. By creating such a record, the domain being forwarded loses all of its records (A, MX, and so forth) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain address it is pointed to. That way, if you are using a web design service by some provider that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain name and not only will it be redirected to the website that you've created, but it'll also appear in the Internet browser address bar at all times. Other possible uses of a CNAME record are to redirect all the targeted traffic from various subdomains to their main domain name, or to use the webmail service of your webhosting company by using webmail.your-doman.com, for instance. The latter will work only by creating a CNAME record for a subdomain because such a record set up for the main domain makes it impossible to use e-mail addresses.

CNAME Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which our company offers with each and every Linux shared package, will allow you to set up CNAME records for every domain or subdomain hosted in the account with just a few mouse clicks. If you aren't confident how to go about it, you can check out the video tutorial that is available within the Control Panel, read the detailed Help article on the subject, or just simply contact us and we will help you 24/7, even though it is unlikely that you'll experience any issues as all it takes to create a new CNAME record is to pick a domain/subdomain, type in the hostname you are redirecting to, and save the modification. The new record will be fully active within the hour. Using CNAME records allows you to have better control over your domains and website content and our system is simple and user-friendly enough to allow people with no previous experience to create such records with ease.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

You will be able to set up, edit and delete CNAME records really easy with all of our semi-dedicated server plans. The accounts are managed through the custom Hepsia hosting CP, and in one of its sections you will see all records for any domain address or subdomain which you have added in your account. To create a new record, you just need to pick the hostname that'll be forwarded (domain/subdomain), input where it will be forwarded to, select the record type, that will be CNAME in this case, and you will be ready. Even when you haven't used a web hosting service before, our CP is incredibly intuitive to use, so you'll not have any troubles. We also have a short video and a detailed help article regarding how to create a CNAME record, both of which are available in the same section of Hepsia. With this function, you can easily use a domain name hosted on our cutting edge cloud hosting platform for an Internet site created elsewhere, create a custom webmail login address with any of your domains, plus much more.
